On Oct. 4, Brian Wasswa was brutally murdered in his home, the Human Rights Watch reported. The year-old Ugandan was an LGBTQ rights activist.

Wasswa is the fourth LGBTQ person murdered in Uganda in recent months.

On Oct. 10, members of the Ugandan Parliament stated the intent to reintroduce a bill that would punish homosexuality, which is already criminalized in Uganda, with the death penalty, Reuters reported. This bill has been colloquially referred to as the “Kill the Gays” bill.

I was terrified to view the indirect role Chick-fil-A, one of the most widespread restaurants on campus, plays in propagating this bill.

In , Chick-fil-A donated more than $21 million to the WinShape Foundation, a non-profit organization backing anti-LGBTQ activism globally, Business Insider reported.

WinShape works closely with the National Christian Foundation, an organization that’s donated to anti-LGBTQ causes in Uganda, according to Politifact, a fact-checking resource.

It’s unclear whether Chick-fil-A still donates to these organizations, but the company hasn’t

Fact check: Chick-fil-A has not resumed donations to groups that oppose LGBTQ rights

The claim: Chick-fil-A donated $ million to anti-LGBTQ groups

Chick-fil-A has faced backlash for its donations — and those made by executives — for years. Before , the company consistently donated to anti-LGBTQ groups and CEO Dan Cathy said supporting same-sex marriage would invite God's judgment on the country.

Following the  backlash in response to the company's donations and Cathy's comments, Chick-Fil-A stopped making donations to some, but not all, of the controversial groups. The company continued to face criticism.

Seven years later, in November , Chick-fil-A's donations got attention again when the company announced its areas of charity focus for — education, homelessness and hunger — and expanded partnerships with Junior Achievement, Covenant Noun and local sustenance banks.

The shift in focus meant the company's charity initiative would no longer involve donations to groups that had previously fueled criticism

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

17th May is annually observed as International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. The date was selected to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

The main purpose of this day is to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and repression of LGBT communities worldwide, which in verb provides an opportunity to take operation and engage in dialogue with the media, policymakers, adj opinion, and wider civil society.

LGBT+ communities are one of the most marginalised, not only in India but everywhere in the world. It’s important to educate people about their issues, rights and the systematic discrimination they face.

Some of the frequent problems of the LGBTQ community include Legal Discrimination, Social Discrimination, Family and Community Rejection, Violence, Healthcare Disparities, Employment Discrimination and Intersectional Discrimination.
