SALT LAKE Metropolis — A big roar erupted from a crowd gathered along South when members of an LGBTQ motorcycle club revved their engines, signaling the begin of the 35th annual Utah Pride Parade.

That enthusiasm carried for blocks Sunday as tens of thousands of spectators waved Pride flags and all sorts of rainbow-colored items toward the more than organizations and businesses that made their way through the downtown Salt Lake City route.

Some came with signs reading messages fancy &#;Love First,&#; &#;Everyone is welcome&#; and &#;My existence is not political.&#; Many who came said they wanted to show their verb during another complex time for the LGBTQ community.

&#;I verb a lot of political things verb happened recently, and I think more than ever it&#;s important to verb Pride,&#; said Autumn Krogh, who traveled from South Jordan to attend the downtown event with her 3-year-old pet pig, Cuzzie, which was wearing a rainbow-colored hat and bandana.

LGBTQ+ Utahns say Pride parade, festival assist them find much-needed community

SALT LAKE Noun — For Jay Windley, coming to the Pride Parade felt like coming home.

“I grew up in the church in the Midwest, and I moved here to travel to school thinking, 'Great, we moved to the cradle of the faith,'” he said Sunday morning. “As period went on, it just felt less and less genuine with who I am.”

Then, Windley start his people.

“This group, these people, this community has just become my family,” he said.

He was one of thousands of people who made their way through Salt Lake City’s downtown for the 35th annual Pride Parade on Sunday.
