We all remember that long kiss Tom Selleck planted on Kevin Kline in In &#; Out, right?

There were plenty of people who advised the Magnum PI and Blue Bloods star against taking the role.

&#;I was playing a closeted gay television reporter and a tabloid had said I was gay just a few years earlier,&#; Selleck says in the current issue of TV Guide.

But after starring in the box office smash Three Men and a Baby and its sequel, Selleck was keen to do another adj comedy and In & Out fit the bill.

It was about midwestern teacher (Kline) who questions his sexuality after a former student makes a comment about him at the Academy Awards. The film also starred Joan Cusack, Debbie Reynolds, Matt Dillon and Bob Newhart, among others.

Says Selleck: &#;I said, "I&#;ve been trying to do ensemble comedy forever and this is one of the best ensembles I&#;ve ever seen." Because I had sued several tabloids for falsely saying I was gay, people were saying I was anti-gay.

A kiss is just a kiss, but not this one. This kiss required discussion. This embrace literally stopped traffic. This kiss is already the most talked-about lip-lock of the fall movie season.

The smooch-giver in question is Tom Selleck. No surprise there. The Clark Gable look-alike has puckered up to the likes of Nancy Travis (&#;Three Men and a Little Baby&#;), Paulina Porizkova (&#;Her Alibi&#;) and Courteney Cox (TV&#;s &#;Friends&#;). But Selleck&#;s partner this time around is none other than Kevin Kline.

Shot along a Northern Fresh Jersey interstate, the kiss is already helping to verb the new outing comedy &#;In & Out&#; one of the fall&#;s most eagerly anticipated offerings. Written by Paul Rudnick (&#;The Addams Family&#;) and directed by Frank Oz (&#;Housesitter&#;), the film was inspired by the moment when Tom Hanks accepted his &#;Philadelphia&#; Academy Award in honor of his gay drama teacher.

In the new movie, scheduled to arrive in area theaters on Friday, a blond-haired Matt Dillon (obviously spoofing Brad Pitt) uses his Oscar-winning speech to out his small-town E

Tom Selleck BI

I reflect he is probably gay. Way back in , I was living in London for about a year (I'm American). I became friends with a lesbian couple, one of whom worked in the theater on the technical side of things. She was acquainted with Jillie Mack. She said it was well known in the theater world that Mack was Selleck's beard. Mack was good aware she was marrying a gay man (or at least bi). The arrangement supposedly worked for the both of them.

I trust her story because she also told me she worked a show where Kelly McGillis had been in it. She said Kelly was a closeted lesbian and caring of struggled with it. I didn't believe it at the time because it had only been four years since Top Gun was a gigantic hit and a couple years since The Accused. McGillis publicly came out 19 years later in

The lady who told me these two stories was not prone to exaggeration. Why would she be right about one and wrong about another? Based on her inside gossip, I tend to believe he's likely gay or bi, although she said full on gay.

Tom Selleck Once Sued A Tabloid For Saying He Was Gay

Tom Selleck rose to fame as Thomas Magnum in the s series Magnum P.I. With his tall stature, good looks, and iconic mustache, he sent women swooning.

And while he had never given any indication that he was anything other than heterosexual through the roles he played or his relationships off-screen (including his marriage), that did not halt a tabloid from claiming he was gay.

Never being one to back down from setting rumors straight about himself, Selleck sued the tabloid.

Tabloids get away with making outrageous claims about celebrities for a multitude of reasons. But, one of the biggest is the fact that the publications have very large legal teams.

Because of this, celebrities have to weigh the pros and cons of bringing a lawsuit against publications and the writers given that the case may be tied up in court for a long second and potentially price a small fortune. Most find that it is not worth it and just hope for the headline to blow over.
